The Garden Route is a bird watcher's paradise and hiking enthusiastics can experience more than 70 diverse hiking trails which cater not only for experienced hikers but also for beginners and disabled people while some of the best driving ranges and golf courses are also found in the region.

Our unspoiled golden beaches provide safe swimming, surfing and relaxation while the many dams, rivers and lagoons offer endless opportunities for a variety of water sports. Southern right whales usually visit the Southern Cape coast from early June to mid-November to calve and raise their young. An unforgettable experience!

THE OUTENIQUA CHOO-TJOE
South Africa's only scheduled steam train service, has been declared a National Monument. It operates between George and Knysna and passes through some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.

Not only is the Garden Route home to many well-known artists, but interesting art galleries and speciality shops are also found throught the region.
