COMPANY HISTORY
Southern Cape Realty CC was founded in July 1991. Three companies, Garland and Moir, Drostdy Estates and Di Turner Properties combined to take up the Realty 1 Franchise.
In a short while the Company became the market leader with a 25% market share in the local property market. However, during 1996 there were major changes in both the management and national structure of Realty 1 and, as a result of these; we began to explore other options.
The company was looking for more independence, better training, and a good referral system. The HOMENET group with over 200 offices was the obvious choice. In June 1997 Southern Cape Realty CCbecame a member of the largest property grouping in South Africa.
In 2004, due to operational requirements, the Company negotiated with Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty, with it’s sophisticated up market image, vitality in its advertising, a training academy and a large and well-established international presence.
OFFICES
We have two branches, which are based in George and Wilderness. GEORGE
George is the centre of the Garden Route and is the largest town in the Southern Cape. It is situated on a narrow coastal plateau which lies at the foot of the mighty Outeniqua Mountains. Situated 3 km from the Indian Ocean, it is within easy driving along the scenic Garden Route highway of the 2 major cities, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. George is an important farming area specialising in vegetables, forestry and hops. Tourism is its major source of revenue because of its lovely surroundings. There are four world class golf courses and one of the best equestrian centres in the country. The area abounds in hiking and walking trails through stunning fynbos and afro-montane forests. For the more daring there are excellent sites for hang gliding and paragliding. George offers a huge range of water sports and Victoria Bay is one of the best surfing breaks in the world.
The town offers some of the best and most modern medical facilities in the country, along with many schools and tertiary education facilities, which has contributed to its rapid growth over the past few years. WILDERNESS
Wilderness is a tranquil seaside village 12 km east of George. It lies among the lakes and estuaries and has pristine unspoilt beaches. It is near enough to George for convenience yet offers the village lifestyle. HEROLDS BAY
Herolds Bay lies approximately 15 kms west of George. It is a sheltered but spectacular rocky cove, enclosing a stretch of golden sand. The Oubaai Golf Estate, with its Hyatt Regency Hotel, has added a new dimension to this desirable seaside destination. IN CONCLUSION:
Noise, overcrowding and crime are not part of the Garden Route Lifestyle. Because of this investors are looking increasingly at the Southern Cape for their property investments.
